International Workshop on Waste Management & Recycling

In 2015, 193 member state countries of the United Nations adopted a new global agenda: the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development with the goal to elevate the world development and to improve all people’s life.

The Agenda which contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals  with 169 targets to be accomplished through action programs in collaboration with  governments, organizations, companies and the society as a whole at the international, national and local levels. 

The Goal 12 aims the sustainable production and consumption and efficient use of natural resources. The goals also gives emphasis on waste management and reducing pollution. 

The goals focuses on substantial reduction in  the waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. Adopt technologies to recover waste, make the use of waste materials, think about the post-consumerism and packaging and principle of the producer’s extended responsibility.

The effective waste management is associated with a healthy life and planet in future. Good management of waste also supports the implementation of many others Sustainable Development Goals. 

Objectives

The objectives of the Workshop are as follows:

• How to increase efficiency of recycling of metals, plastics, rubber, textiles etc. from waste
• How to reduce the volume of waste from  vehicles sent to landfill
• How to recycle  household waste 
  through materials recovery, including biological treatment.
• How to recover  food waste from households, restaurants, caterers
  and retail premises by means of biological treatment.
