International Workshop on GIS & Remote Sensing for Environmental Assessment
In 2015 all 192 United Nations member states came together to commit 17 ambitious global goals – the Sustainable Development Goals – by 2030. While ambition and momentum to tackle the goals has grown, there is not much progress on important global issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation and inequality. Now we have entered into a “decade of action”, from 2020 to 2030, where we will turn our ambitions and plans reflected in 17 SDGs into reality. We are living in the era of rapid advancements in technologies and global connectivity.
New technologies are transforming our life & society rapidly.
Technology holds the potential to transform the present world into economically prosperous, social equitable and environmentally sustainable world. This technology will also help us to monitor and manage the Earth’s surface and resources at a fast speed. The new technology will enable us to collect and harness vast amounts of data; and bring positive changes in healthcare, agriculture, energy, education and mobility.
Collecting, compiling and analyzing global data related to environment parameters is an important task in this direction. Society for Environment & Sustainable Development is organizing two days “International Workshop on GIS & Remote Sensing applications for Environmental Assessment”.
